Weekly roundup 8 October 21

We have been discussing the topic of harvesting this week at Pre-School in celebration of the 'Harvest Festivals'. 🌾

The children have enjoyed a variety of activities linked with our harvest conversations, vegetable paint printing, handling and chopping vegetables in the tuff trays and using them during their free-play role playing in the home corner!. We have discussed what happens during harvest time and we found out about combine harvesters and what they do. We even learnt a new song during our circle time, 'Big Red Combine Harvester' along with the actions! See if your child can sing it for you at home too!

We added a new 'vegetable' to our snack menu this week....Spinach! The children all enjoyed trying the spinach during our morning snack time, with the salad bowl empty by the end of the session! Popeye would be very proud!

Our cooking recipe this week was mini carrot cakes. The children enjoyed grating the carrot into the mixture and using the measuring spoons to add the correct amount of flour. They smelt delicious!

S.T.E.M was all about floating and sinking this week, with the children predicting which items would float or sink!

Honeys class have enjoyed getting creative, with lots of paint printing using chopped vegetables and also 'animal feet' printing! They role played 'Bob the Builder', using the tools to 'fix' the climbing frame and there was some great block building sessions too, with the children working together to make enclosures for the animals!

On Thursday we all got mooo-ving with Farmer Laura and her Moo Music session, we put out the fire with our hoses and stomped our feet like giants!

A fabulous week had by all! Have a great weekend everyone, we'll see you all again next week!

Our colour and shape for next week are blue and rectangle!
