This week the Bumbles class have continued exploring the topic of Autumn! We have been talking about the different animals that have started getting for ready for the colder months, discussing hibernation and how the animals prepare for this. We enjoyed sharing the story 'It was a cold night' together, identifying all the animals in the story and where they like to go during winter! We enjoyed making autumn leaf wreaths, hedgehog collages and we even made our own playdough hedgehogs, using dried spaghetti for spikes! We've been very active this week too, trying out some autumn yoga and even going on a bear hunt! 🐻
Our cooking recipe this week was 'Cheese and spinach pizza pinwheels', with the children showing off their fantastic culinary skills, spreading, rolling and basting! They smelt delicious! 🍕
'Lemon Volcanos' was our S.T.E.M experiment with the children observing what happens when baking powder is added to a sliced lemon!
The Honeys class have been busy practicing their cutting and sticking skills, making some of their favourite characters from Peppa Pig! 🐷
They've been working hard building their independent self help skills too, using knives to spread and chop their snack during meal times. Making playdough was also a big hit this week, with the children identifying what 'ingredients' they needed to use and even supporting our 'British Values' by voting as a class what colour to make it!
Farmer Laura was back for another fun Moo Music session on Thursday, with the children shaking their pom-poms and clacking their castanets in rhythm to the music!
Both classes have also been discussing the importance of 'Oral Hygiene' this week, with lots of 'brushing teeth' activities taking place during our sessions. The children have shown us some great knowledge of the importance of brushing teeth, how dentists help us and when they brush their teeth home. This is something that we will continue to discuss at Pre-School and will be part of our termly planning for the children. We would love to see some pictures of the children at home brushing their teeth on Tapestry so we can use them during our circle time discussions and activities.
A very busy week indeed! Now for a rest before the fun starts again on Monday! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Colour and shape for next week is yellow and triangle.
