On Monday, the Bumbles class explored the Hindu festival ‘Navaratri’ which is celebrated every year during Autumn. Karishma kindly brought in some of her traditional Indian dress and jewellery for the children to look at and try on! The children coloured in some fantastic pictures of the Goddess Durga and also enjoyed listening to some traditional Indian music!
We have continued discussing the topic of Harvest during our circle times this week, with the children now experts in singing our new song ‘Big Red Combine Harvester!’ We have enjoyed lots of outside play, with the children making their own balance beam obstacle courses, using crates, stepping stones and the wooden planks!
The children made cheese and chive scones during their cooking sessions this week, measuring ingredients, mixing and rolling out the dough and then choosing what shape cutter they would use.
The Honeys class have continued exploring the topic of Autumn and Harvest. They enjoyed exploring vegetables at the water table, making ‘vegetable soup!’ prompting lots of great conversation about their likes and dislikes. Craft sessions saw the children make some fantastic autumn leaf wreaths and brush painting to make autumn tree pictures.
There was some fantastic team work seen during their large construction activity, with the children working together and putting forward their own ideas whilst building a ‘boat’.
On Thursday Farmer Laura was back with another great Moo Music session, with both classes enjoying playing ‘peek-a-boo’ with Maggie Moo and being racing car drivers!
Have a great weekend everyone and we’ll see you all again next week for our final week before half term!
The colour and shape for next week is orange and star, and the Honeys class will be sharing the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’.
