π Our topic this week has been Around the World, and the children have had a wonderful time exploring different countries and cultures.
π During this week's snack times, we have made and tasted foods from around the globe. The children created their own pizzas from Italy and enjoyed Sushi kindly prepared by Viktoria. They explored a range of flavours by tasting soy sauce, smelling and tasting Basil and some children were brave enough to try chilli jam! The children have also practised using chopsticks, just like they do in Japan and China. We finished the week by making and then enjoying fairy bread for snack, which is popular in Australia and New Zealand.
πΊοΈ We have been looking at atlases, learning where different countries are located and how they are separated by sea. We have also looked at different buildings around the world, the children in Honey's have been recreating their own buildings using playdough.
π§ The children have also been learning about animals from around the world and how they move — kangaroos bounce, penguins waddle, and birds fly.
π¨ In our creative activities, we threw powder paint into a puddle to explore colour mixing and the effects of paint in water. We have also spoken about passports and country flags, the Bumbles room have made their own passports and flags.
Next week, we will be continuing with our Around the World theme. This will include celebrating Chinese New Year, with activities linked to culture, traditions, and festivities.
