🐉 We have been learning about Chinese New Year. Each child received a fortune cookie, and we shared red envelopes, which are traditionally given as symbols of protection, wellbeing, good fortune and happiness. The children enjoyed exploring the meaning behind these special celebrations.
💬 Thank you to all parents and carers who attended our parents’ evening. It was wonderful to share your child’s progress, and celebrate their achievements together. We value these opportunities to work in partnership with you.
🏅 We have also been learning about the Winter Olympic Games, which began last week in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The children painted the Olympic rings using the five colours: blue, yellow, black, green and red. We discovered that these colours were chosen because at least one appears on every country’s flag. The linked rings represent friendship and unity between continents and countries taking part.
❄️ We talked about how the Games bring athletes together from around the world to compete in snow and ice sports. The children shared what the Winter Olympics mean to them, highlighting teamwork, determination, fairness and always trying their best. We linked these important values to our pre-school golden rules and discussed why following them helps everyone feel safe and happy.
⛷️ The children enjoyed learning about some of the sports featured in the Games, including skiing, figure skating, ice hockey and snowboarding. We explored how athletes train for many years to reach this level and how simply taking part in the Olympics is an incredible achievement.
🌍 Painting the Olympic rings helped us understand that the Winter Olympic Games are not just about winning medals, but about friendship, respect and bringing the world together through sport.
📩 Funding forms and parent surveys have been sent home, please return these by 27th February.
