This week we have been learning all about investigations. The children explored gloop, which is made from cornflour and water. When left untouched it has a runny consistency, but when squeezed and moved between the children’s hands it becomes solid. The children had lots of fun exploring the different consistencies and noticing how it changed.
We also played a magnetic guessing game using a tuff tray filled with magnetic and non-magnetic objects. Together, we discussed which items were magnetic, such as letter magnets, spoons and fridge magnets.
The children have also been investigating different materials for our group collage. As a group, we talked about how the materials felt and described them using words such as soft, hard, big and small. The children particularly enjoyed taking turns to gently tickle each other with the feathers.
We are very proud to share that we have been awarded our Rooting Award as part of our work with Nourishing Our Future. We have been involved in this project for around 18 months, during which time we have focused on promoting healthy lifestyles for children and families.
We love to celebrate birthdays here at Springfield Bees. Recently, a couple of children have enjoyed bringing in a special snack to share with their friends. This week we have loved sharing watermelon, raspberries, blueberries and pancakes together.
Next week our theme will be “All Around the World”. We will be learning about different countries and cultures, discussing similarities and differences such as clothing, food and traditions. We will also be reading a variety of traditional tale stories.
