We have had a week of celebrations at Pre-School, starting with Diwali celebrations earlier in the week and finishing off with Bonfire Night!
The children learnt about the Hindu festival Diwali during circle time, with Karishma kindly bringing in some of her traditional Indian dress and jewellery for the children to try on and look at. Diwali is the festival of light so the children have enjoyed decorating candles in celebration as well as making their own 'Happy Diwali' cards to take home.
To mark Bonfire night, the children created some fantastic fire collages and painted firework pictures using toothbrushes and lots of glitter. We also discussed how to keep safe around fireworks and open fires.
During our cooking session this week the children made a Raita dip, mixing together the ingredients, discussing the different smells of the herbs and taste testing their dip during snack time.
The Honeys class have been busy making their own salt dough Diya lamps in celebration of Diwali, decorating them with sequins and gems to make them extra special and colourful. They have enjoyed creating firework pictures too using toilet roll tubes and forks to create a firework looking effect! Den building has been a popular activity choice this week with the children using 'tools' to help with the building. The children also enjoyed creating roads using masking tape on the floor, complete with a zebra crossing, to drive their cars around!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and get to enjoy some great firework displays! We'll see you all again next week.
Our colour and shape for next week is white and diamond.
