🎃 We've had a Halloween themed week in the Bumbles class, with the children exploring and investigating pumpkins in the tuff and water trays, cutting, carving, washing and scooping out the seeds!
We had a variety of sizes and different coloured pumpkins which encouraged lots of conversation amongst the children, discussing their own experiences of pumpkin picking and carving!
We've been busy making lots of Halloween themed crafts too and even helped to make our own orange playdough, rolling into balls to make playdough pumpkins!
Our cooking recipe this week was 'gingerbread men'. The children, as always, took the lead and were hands on with measuring out the ingredients, mixing, rolling and cutting out their own dough. The Pre-School smelt delicious!
This week's cooking activity was influenced by the Honey's class book of the week, The Gingerbread Man! The Honeys have enjoyed sharing the story together and all joining in during circle time with the story's key phrases....'Run, run as fast as you can....!' They even made their own gingerbread man crafts too!
We were very lucky to have Emma from Sanctus come into Pre-School on Thursday to talk to the children about the charity she works for, Sanctus, and about the fantastic work she and her colleagues do for the homeless community.
The children sat and listened beautifully and we even had some 'hands up' for question time at the the end! The children were told about where the items they had brought in for the harvest collection would go and how they would be used. We would like to thank everyone who donated items for our collection.
We are closed next week for half term, returning to Pre-School on Monday 1st November. We hope you all have a lovely and restful break.
