Weekly Roundup - 5 May 2023

What a week! Our farm theme began with many activities centred around familiar animals and resources. The children enjoyed using real hay in the Tuff tray to accompany their diggers and farmyard small world toys. School transition sessions are going well with some of the Bumbles talking about which schools they are going to and looking at pictures of their new environments. The role play area has a range of uniforms and PE kits for the children to try out which will familiarise them with the kind of clothing they will be required to wear in September.

Our new children in the Honeys room have settled particularly well and have got stuck in with the activities on offer this week, both indoors and out. On Friday we had a visit from the local library bus. Megan read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and gave the children a copy so they could follow the story with pictures. Children were allowed to select a book of their choice which will be kept in our Pre-School library and available to read for the next 3 weeks. Our countdown to the King's coronation began this week and has been very exciting. The children have learnt what the coronation means, where it will take place and what the new King will wear! During circle time we spoke about the events taking place in London, including the Flypast and how we might catch a glimpse of the planes in our own gardens.

We made crowns using jewels and built a King robot! Our snack featured traditional scones, jam and cream and we played some popular party games including musical statues. We listened to the National Anthem and spent much of the afternoon dancing and singing to prepare us for what is likely to be a long weekend of celebrations!!
