Weekly roundup - 30 September 2022

This week in Bumbles the children have continued making houses from different materials.

We started our new story of the week “Owl Babies”, some great owls were created at the art table! The children have also been busy making and playing with play dough, we have seen some lovely spiders made and the children were very good at remembering the recipe. We learned about the festival of Rosh Hashanah and how the Jewish community celebrate the NewYear by dipping apples in honey.

Next week our colour of the week is orange, our number of the week is 5, and our shape of the week is a square. Our story in Bumbles will be Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

In Honeys this week we have been reading Goldilocks and the three bears, this has been enjoyed by all and has led to conversations about how baby bear felt when his porridge bowl was empty and his chair was broken - “he feels so sad”. We have enjoyed making playdough as a group and each had a turn to add different ingredients such as flour, oil, water and salt. We chose the colour brown to make our own bears. We have also been using apples picked from our tree to print, and re-enacted the Goldilocks story through a tuff tray activity. Next week our story will be be Dear Zoo - one of our favourites!!

We saw the return of Moo Music this week with Farmer Laura's enthusiastic dancing and singing session. These opportunities are a great way to enhance the children's experiences and support communication and language development. A huge thank you to everyone who has brought in donations for Harvest Festival. Emma from Sanctus will be visiting on Monday to tell the children about the homeless charity and how the donations will help those in need.

Have a lovely weekend.
