Weekly roundup - 7 October 2022

This children have had a really busy week in Bumbles and been lucky to have some dry weather, making the most of the sunshine. They have really enjoyed exploring and investigating the outside space and have been great at helping each other to solve problems. On Tuesday we had a visitor, Emma from Sanctus came to talk to us about where our food donations go, the children done some fantastic listening. Some great owls have been created on the art table and the children used their imaginations and pretended to be nurses and doctors in the role play area.

On Thursday Bumbles enjoyed a Moo Music session and were able to listen carefully to Farmer Laura and follow instructions with the musical instruments. Musical experiences in childhood can speed up cognitive development, especially with language and reading skills so do make sure your children are exposed to a range of songs and rhymes regularly! Next week our colour of the week is red, our shape of the week is a star and our number of the week is 3. Our story of the week is “How did that get in my lunch box?” Our focus for the week is on healthy eating and learning about harvest festival and where our food comes from. We'll have a prize for the most healthy lunchbox and are encouraging the children to eat less sugar and processed foods. This week, Honeys have enjoyed reading stories, especially Dear Zoo. We have used story sacks and games to enhance children's understanding and learning. The children enjoyed recalling the story and guessing which animal came next - “it’s a monkey”, “that’s a small box", "it’s the frog”. We have also enjoyed painting, playing in the sand and with the water. We have been remembering to wear aprons and reminding our friends to put them on too. Our book next week is Kitchen Disco.
