The children in Bumbles have all settled well into their new routines and have been learning and implementing our golden rules. This week in Honeys and Bumbles we have started our topic, My family and Our Pets. During circle time we have been talking about our homes and who lives with us. Our story of the week has been The Three Little Pigs, which the children have enjoyed listening to. At the craft table they used various materials to create their own houses of straw, wood and bricks. A big thank you to those parents that brought in resources. We have been practicing huffing and puffing in circle time and thinking about how the pigs felt -“they are scared” and “brave” were some of the comments.
The Bumbles enjoyed recalling the story using the visuals from the display board. Using props and visual aids can support children to retell a story and help build early language skills.

We have been lucky with the weather this week and the children have enjoyed being outside, joining in with games such as Duck, Duck Goose and using the parachute.
In the Honeys room we have been enjoying playing outside, taking great interest in the basketball net, “I did it” “look, look, it’s gone in” were some of the comments. We have also enjoyed balancing our trucks on the beam and exploring the block play area. This activity helps children identify shapes and begin to use language related to size. Bertie and Bella. the Springfield Bees will be going home this week. Children will be invited to take the bees home so they can be part of the family for a few days. Do encourage your child to share some stories with Bertie or Bella and take some pictures of family life which can be added to the journal. We look forward to hearing your stories!
Have a lovely weekend!
