Weekly roundup 26 September 2025

We have had a very busy week at preschool, focusing on our theme of Our Family and Pets. Thank you to all families who contributed and added photos on Tapestry. Thank you also for returning your children’s All About Me books — the children have loved looking through these with their keyworkers and peers, we will continue to look at these next week.

📚 Story Time

We have been reading The Three Little Pigs and taking part in lots of activities linked to the story, including playing with tuff trays, craft activities and role play.

🥦 Healthy Eating Week & Harvest Festival

Next week we are celebrating both Healthy Eating Week and Harvest Festival!

  • 🍱 Lunchbox Competition in both the Honeys and Bumbles rooms — with prizes for the winner and two runners up.
  • 🥕 For inspiration and ideas please see Lunchbox ideas and recipes – https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/
  • The Eatwell Guide is a great visual resource to explore. It shares clear information about the five food groups and offers tips on how to achieve a balanced diet

🎁 Harvest Festival Donations

As part of our Harvest theme, we will be collecting for Sanctus Homeless Charity throughout the week. A donation box will be in the foyer - we are so grateful for any contributions.
Most needed items:

  • 🥫 Ring-pull cans (beans, spaghetti, pineapple, peaches, etc.)
  • 🍲 Ready meals in ring-pull cans (chilli con carne, stews, all-day breakfasts)
  • 🐟 Tuna and sardines in ring-pull cans
  • 👉 They do not currently need pasta, biscuits, or cereals.

🧥 Rotary Club Coat Collection

Over the coming weeks, we will be collecting children’s coats to donate to the Rotary Club. These will then be distributed to local charities to support families in need.
If you have any coats your child has outgrown, we’d be very grateful for your donations. A collection box will be available from 3rd November, but we are also happy to store coats before this date if they are no longer required.

🩺 NHS Advice – Illnesses
As the colder months approach, it’s very normal for children to develop coughs and colds.

🍂 Weekend Ideas

Here are a few fun seasonal activities you might like to try:

  • 🌰 Collecting conkers
  • 🏞️ Visiting a new park
  • 🚶 Going for an autumn walk and observing the changing season - turn it into a spotting game! Can you see a leaf falling from a tree 🍁 a red leaf 🍂 a acorn 🌳 a squirrel 🐿️.

Next week the colour of the week will be yellow.
