A busy and fun week at Pre-School!
The Bumbles class have been exploring the story of The Tiger Who Came To Tea, having tea parties with friends and recreating the story using props. They have been having conversations during circle time such as “would you let the tiger in for tea?” and also “who would you invite to your tea party?” The children have been creating their own shopping lists, cutting and sticking their chosen foods. There was also small group work, using props to explore the story of The Vey Hungry Caterpillar, which is still a firm favourite.
In the Honeys class the children have been busy creating Easter chicks using their hands and talking about baby animals that are born and hatch at this time of the year. They also enjoyed a tea party for snack on Tuesday, using real china crockery and a teapot to pour their milk.
We have enjoyed the lovely weather this week and have been playing “What's the time Mr Wolf?” outside, this game encourages the children to practice counting and explore the concept of time. We went for a walk around the field, using different gross motor movements such as tiptoeing, running and jumping - these movements are important for children to practice as they learn how to coordinate and control their body movements. Gross motor skills also help lay the foundation to be able to complete fine motor skill movement such as pinching or grasping.
On Tuesday we waved goodbye to Debbie. Debbie has worked at Springfield Bees for over 6 years, progressing to being the Deputy Manager for the setting. She has been part of our committee and two of her children attended the setting. We thank her for all of her hard work and know children and parents will miss her as much as we will. Debbie is embarking on a new career as a councillor - we know she will be fantastic and wish her the best of luck. Debbie was so very grateful to be gifted such wonderful cards and gifts and sends on her gratitude to you all.
Please can we encourage children to leave their toys at home, we are experiencing a high volume of toys coming into Pre-School which sometimes become lost or mislaid at the end of the day. If children do bring something in from home we will encourage them to leave it in their bag for safe keeping.
Next week we will be celebrating and learning about Easter, our books of the week will be The Easter Story and Little Rabbit Foo Foo.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you all again on Monday!
