Weekly roundup 17 March 2023

This week our book of the week has been The Tiger Who Came To Tea which has been shared during sessions and at circle time. The children in Honeys are beginning to learn the sequence of the book and are guessing what the tiger will eat and drink next and the Bumbles children have enjoyed the familiar repeated refrains.

We have also been playing the shopping list game, this encourages us to look for particular items on our shopping list and communicate what items we have and which products our friends need. We have also made our lovely Mums cards and gifts for Mothering Sunday and spoken about the qualities that make them so special - it was so lovely hearing the children share stories about this: “Mummy gives me cuddles”. We have been observing the signs of Spring outside, including spotting daisies and daffodils and noticing the blossom on the bushes.

The children enjoyed listening to and dancing to different music in Bumbles this week and celebrated St Patrick’s Day with some crafts while learning about why we observe this festival on the 17th March. We also learned the meaning behind some traditional Irish names which some of the children have.

Next week the children will be creating their own shopping lists, the younger ones using pictures and older children developing their physical and early literacy skills by practicing writing some words. We'll use real china tea pots and crockery to serve snack and have our very own tea party to say goodbye to Debbie.

Have a great weekend.
