Welcome to the weekly round up with what has been happening at Pre-School since the start of term.
The children, new and old have settled well and have taken part in many activities over the past two weeks. The sun has been shining and the children have been out in the garden, particularly enjoying picking apples from the tree and collecting them to bring inside. Lots of opportunities for counting and sorting into sizes. Our very own little harvest!
Some of the books the children have enjoyed this week have included The Enormous Turnip, Deer Zoo and The Blue Balloon. Reading with children supports many areas of development and promotes communication and language skills - parents can get more advice about this and support at home by visiting - https://www.tlc-essex.info.
The Honey's room have enjoyed exploring the resources on offer including play dough, sand and water and have been getting to know each other and the staff. Over the next few weeks our topic will be about pets and our families. We would love it if the children were able to bring in some pictures of themselves, siblings, parents etc and of their pets. We'll be introducing the story of The Three Little Pigs and doing some activities related to this so if you have any sticks or straw at home we'd be very grateful to have some! Some pictures of where the children live will also give us an opportunity to speak to the children at circle time about homes so these can be added to Tapestry or sent in.
Just a reminder, no sweets or nuts in lunchboxes please and children are permitted to have only water in their cups/bottles during sessions.
If you haven't already activated your Tapestry account please do so when you get the link. This will enable you to view the activities your children take part in and allows you to make contributions to their learning and development. Please ask Carla or Rachel if you are having difficulty with this.
We have two new permanent staff this term - Maxine who is leading the Bumbles room and Chelsea who is studying for her Level 3 apprenticeship qualification in Early Years Education. Do say hello when you drop off in the morning! We'll be closed for the bank holiday on Monday the 19th September in honour of The Queen, who sadly passed away last week.
