We’ve had a buzz-tastic week here at preschool as we celebrated Bee Week! The children have been learning all about our tiny pollinator friends through stories, songs, crafts, and outdoor exploration. Our little learners have been full of curiosity and creativity.
🌼 What We've Been Up To:
The children have been full of energy and enthusiasm as they enjoyed our sports track this week. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces as they raced, jogged, and zoomed around! We've even spotted a few budding athletes in the making—watch out, Olympics 2040! 🌟
We have had a blast playing the Honeypot Game! This playful activity not only sparked lots of giggles but also helped develop important skills like listening, memory, and turn-taking. In the game, one child plays the "bee" while another hides a "honeypot" (a small object). The bee then tries to guess who has the honeypot, guided by clues and a little imagination! Games like this are a wonderful way to build social-emotional skills while keeping learning light and joyful. Ask your child about their role in the game—were they the sneaky honey hider or the buzzing bee?
During Bee Week, we’ve been helping the children understand that bees are friendly little helpers! They’re far more interested in flowers than people, and they only sting if they feel frightened. The children learned that bees play a vital role in nature by helping plants and flowers grow—and without them, we wouldn’t have many of our favourite fruits and veggies! It’s been lovely to see so many of our little learners become bee buddies, learning to stay calm and respectful around these amazing insects. 💛
Our garden is starting to spring to life! We’re so excited to see tiny shoots appearing on our new plants—a sign that all our hard work is paying off. The children have been watering them every day, learning how to care for living things and watching nature work its magic. We can’t wait to see what blossoms next! 🌼
As we continue to enhance our outdoor learning space, we’re kindly asking for donations of gently used items that could enrich our garden and play area. We’re especially looking for:
• Little Tikes cars and ride-on toys
• Trikes and scooters
• Outdoor play equipment
• Gardening tools or child-sized wheelbarrows
We are also seeking donations of hard-bodied dolls. The children love using these during bath time play and self-care activities!
If you have any items you’d like to donate, please let a staff member know or bring them in during drop-off or pick-up. Your support helps create an even more exciting and engaging environment for our children!
Just a reminder that next week is half term, and the preschool will be closed from Monday, May 26th to Friday, May 30th.
We’ll be back in session on Monday, June 2nd.
We hope you all have a lovely, restful break!
🐝 Thank You for Being Part of Our Hive!
As always, we’re so grateful for your continued support and involvement. Wishing you a safe and sunny half term holiday!
