Welcome back after the long Easter break. The Summer term is upon us and it's surprising how quickly time has gone by.
For most of our Bumbles children this will be the final term at Pre-School before starting reception in September. We've had lots of conversations with the children about which schools they are going to, all very exciting! We introduced some school resources and local school uniforms to the role play area which the children enjoyed dressing up in and pretending they were already at 'big school'.
We'll be getting in touch with class teachers from the new schools a littler later in the term to invite them in to meet with the children. Please do confirm with your child's Key Person which school they are going to, if you haven't already done so. There have also been transitions taking place in the Honey's room with new children starting and some older Honey's having short visits to Bumbles to prepare them for when they move across next term. Some children find the change from their familiar routine daunting so it's important to consider their emotional wellbeing during times of transition. Your child relies on the trusted adults around them so do keep up with regular communication with their Key Person to ensure we are all working in partnership.
Our topic this week and next is Minibeasts and you'll see from some of the photographs that the children have enjoyed being outside exploring nature. They were more interested in picking flowers so we're hoping to provide some inspiration next week with some of our favourite creepy crawly stories like 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson and 'Spinderella' by the same author.
We've been very fortunate to receive a large donation of brand new books for our lending library from a kind parent. We're very grateful and would like to thank her for such generosity. Do feel free to ask Rachel for a library leaflet so your child can borrow books and get a stamp after they've read their story.
It's World Earth Day on Monday and we'll be encouraging the children to learn about the issues affecting our planet while raising awareness and celebrating the efforts in place to protect our environment. For ideas visit https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2024/.
Have a lovely weekend.
