t's been a very warm and sunny first week back at Preschool, with the children enjoying lots of outdoor activities and games!
How we keep ourselves safe in the sun was a hot topic this week We discussed the importance of wearing sun-cream and sunhats, finding shade and keeping ourselves hydrated in the warmer weather.
On Tuesday we celebrated World Ocean's Day
We learnt about our planet and how so much of it is made up of water! We discussed waves and how they are created... We even made our own 'waves' in the water trays using paper straws to blow through and act as the 'wind'. We also discussed plastic pollution, and how it affects our oceans.
Sandwich making was on the cooking board this week with the children showing off their great independence skills, choosing their own sandwich fillings and chopping and spreading using the utensils... There were some very interesting and creative combinations chosen for some of the sandwiches!
The Honey's class have been exploring the story 'The Three Little Pigs' this week .
The children investigated different materials that link with the story to build 'houses' (straw, sticks and stones). They have enjoyed sharing the story together at circle time too, predicting what happens next! The children have also been developing their knowledge of prepositions, exploring 'under', 'inside', 'on top' and 'behind'.
The children's understanding and knowledge of our 'Class Golden Rules' has been fantastic too this week, with them all explaining to our newest members of the Springfield Bee's team what they are and what we should and shouldn't do at Preschool! Well done Honey's class!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again next week!
