Weekly Round Up - 21 January 2022

Both the Bumbles and Honeys classes have been continuing to welcome new friends to the Pre-school this week and we extend a warm welcome to our families who are new to the setting.

The Bumbles class have enjoyed exploring the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. They enjoyed listening to the story and it wasn’t long before they were predicting the repeated words.

The children used their engineering skills to make a large bridge from boxes, which they then went underneath, pretending to be the troll!  The bridge theme continued into mathematics, making number bridges, as well as looking at sizes and ordering of the various goats.  We practiced our cutting skills to make puppets and then used these to repeat the story from memory.

We had hay and goats in the tuff tray and the children used their imaginations to make their own stories. In our cooking sessions this week we made pizza pinwheels, using our fine motor skills to spread, sprinkle and roll! Yummy!

The Honeys class have continued to welcome lots of new friends this week, proving to be great role models by showing how well they can follow the golden rules.

They've enjoyed using their green fingers to make pots of cress seeds to grow at home. Please send in your pictures to show us how these get on – and don’t forget to water them! They celebrated Penguin awareness day by making penguin pictures with cotton wool.

The children have been taking real delight in stories this week, especially Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell and Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen.

On the cold mornings, they have enjoyed exploring the crisp frosts outside, listening to the sound of it crunching underfoot.  Farmer Laura was in on Thursday with another great Moo Music session for the children with lots of singing, dancing and bubbles!

Have a lovely weekend!
