Weekly roundup - 5 December 2025

Last week as part of our road safety week, we welcomed Arthur our local lollipop man - who came to talk to the children about how he helps everyone stay safe when crossing the road. Outside, we’ve been practising our own “traffic lights” - green means go, red means stop. The children have really enjoyed joining in! We have also been looking at different signs in our carpark.

🎄 Christmas Play Visits

On Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, some of our Bumbles children visited Perryfield’s Infant School to watch their wonderful Christmas plays. They sat so well and really enjoyed the experience.

🎄 Feeling Festive

We have put our Christmas decorations up this week, we would like to say a huge thankyou to Dani and her family who have donated a beautiful Christmas tree, we are so very grateful. The children helped to decorate it, and have been reading storys beside it, and exploring the decorations and lights. We have begun sending the children's Christmas folders home this week, these crafts have been made with love.

📮 Postbox

Our Christmas postboxes are now in the foyer ready for the festive season. If you would like a name list for your child’s room to help with sending Christmas cards, please speak to Sophie or Viktoria.

âš½ It has been our sports week this week

Honeys enjoyed an introductory yoga session with Amelia this week, which was very well received. The children explored a variety of physical activities, including indoor and outdoor obstacle courses, ball-kicking outside, trampolining, and using the indoor climbing frame. They also took part in discussions about different types of sports and associated vocabulary, such as tennis, hockey, and rugby. During circle time the children voted for their favourite sports, with swimming and trampolining coming out on top.

🌙 Bedtime Routines

Looking for ways to make bedtime smoother and more enjoyable? The Talk, Listen, Cuddle (TLC) website has some great advice for creating calm, connected bedtime routines.

Highlights include:

  • Consistency: A familiar pattern (bath, story, cuddle, sleep) helps children feel secure.
  • Talk together: Quiet chats about the day strengthen bonds and help children wind down.
  • Read and cuddle: Sharing a book builds language skills and creates comfort.
  • Limit screens: Turn off devices at least an hour before bed to help children relax.

You can explore more ideas and resources on the TLC website’s Bedtime Routines section www.tlc-essex.info/resource/bedtime-routines
