We've been grateful for the cooler weather this week which has allowed us the the opportunity to be outside for longer periods of time. Both rooms have been keeping an eye on the plants and vegetables and giving them some much needed water. We also used the water squirters in connection with our topic, forces. This was great fun and had the children laughing while learning. The aim of course was to support their understanding of projectile physics and fluid dynamics to observe the water pressure in water pistols - science and engineering!!
The Honeys room carried out some simple experiments to help them understand about the force of magnetism. They tested a few objects to find out if the magnets they held would be attracted to certain properties. They talked about how the magnets would 'stick' and 'pick up' materials made of metal but wouldn't work on wood and plastic.
In Bumbles, many of the children had some school visits to meet teachers and explore their new reception classes.
This created lots of conversation and also some apprehension with children realising that they will be moving on from the setting they have felt so comfortable in. They've also been practicing our goodbye song which will be performed on the last day for the graduation which is likely to be an emotional day for everyone at Pre-School.
Next week we will be moving on to our last topic of the year, Our Wonderful World and Holidays! To support this, we are encouraging parents to share photographs of their children in different places for example, on holidays or visiting family and friends. These can be uploaded to Tapestry and are a great way for children and Key Workers to have conversations about what happens outside of Pre-School.
Have a great weekend!
