Hello, it’s been a busy fun filled week at preschool during our forces topic,
The Honeys room have carried out some simple experiments to help them understand about the force of magnetism. They tested a few objects to find out if the magnets they held would be attracted to certain properties. They talked about how the magnets would 'stick' and 'pick up' materials made of metal but wouldn't work on wood and plastic.
The Bumbles room have been making catapults, experimenting with water - which objects sink and which will float?, and used their senses to explore the texture trail.
In Bumbles, many of the children had some school visits to meet teachers and explore their new reception classes.
This created lots of conversation and also some apprehension with children realising that they will be moving on from the setting they have felt so comfortable in. They've also been practicing our goodbye song which will be performed on the last day for the graduation which is likely to be an emotional day for everyone at Pre-School.
Thank you to the ladies of Chelmsford Morris Dancers who visited the pre-school on Tuesday to demonstrate their traditional style of folk dance. The children were very inquisitive, asking lots of questions “Why are there bells on your shoes?” “What is your house made of?”. The children and staff were excited to join in with the dancing, using the bells and sticks as directed to make their own routines. Superstar sport had us moving this week, the children learnt how to throw frisbees, and balance them on their ears!
Next week we will be moving on to our last topic of the year, Our Wonderful World and Holidays! To support this, we are encouraging parents to share photographs of their children in different places for example, on holidays or visiting family and friends. These can be uploaded to Tapestry and are a great way for children and Key Workers to have conversations about what happens outside of Pre-School.
Have a great weekend!
