This week we have enjoyed lots of physical activities as part of our Sports week. We have enjoyed participating in a range of sports including, running races, Moo music, Gymnastics with superstar sports, Yoga with Karishma, to name a few. During the yoga activity, Karishma spoke to us about using our bodies in different ways. Yoga helps strengthen children's growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility. We also played a colour matching physical game which was to find and catch the coloured balls to put in the basket - this was a popular activity with the children requesting it daily.
We also celebrated World Children’s Day on Monday, we gave the children the opportunity to design the session, and they chose to have the climbing frame out as part of our indoor activities. The children also chose the circle time activity & took turns with the knock knock box - a great activity made with a large box with mini drawers filled with different objects representing nursery rhymes - this links to the EYFS Development Matters guidance which states that children will be learning to “remember and sing entire songs”
We have also celebrated Thanksgiving, we’ve made turkeys during craft and talked about the festival, learning that is a day to express and give thanks through family and food. During some Thanksgiving celebrations, people write down what they are thankful for and then read aloud from the pieces of paper.
During the sessions we have been crafting, making our own footballs, and colouring pictures of different sports whilst talking about them, “I love football”, “I want to go swimming at the weekend”. We have also made a postbox ready for christmas cards which will be situated in the reception area and available from December the 1st. If you would like a name list for the room that your child is in please request this from your child’s Key worker from Tuesday 28th November.
Please can we ask that buggies, prams and pushchairs are left outside whilst bringing your children in to preschool, it is very busy and we have very limited space in our cloak room. We have noticed in recent weeks that it is becoming difficult to get in and out of the setting which is a health and safety concern. We do have a Buggy park for your convenience which is very close to our entrance, or alternatively please drop your child at the door with a member of staff.
Another polite reminder is to please name your children’s clothing including coats, hats and gloves etc. This makes items easier to return to their correct owner.
With the colder weather here to stay, it's important that the children have appropriate clothing to play outside including a winter coat. Putting children's children's gloves in their pockets and hats in their sleeves when they hang up their belongings makes it easier for them to get ready when it's time to go outside. Children go out in all weathers so they are able to experience learning in their natural environment.
We look forward to seeing the activity trackers this week when we'll be announcing the winners. Please hand them into your children's Key Worker from Monday 27th November.
Show and tell next week will have a theme of items that are Green or Red.
Our book of the week will be the Elves and the Shoemaker, we are really looking forward to reading this along with celebrating St Andrew’s day and beginning our Christmas festivities!!!
