This week at Springfield Bees, we had a fun and exciting time exploring and learning during our Investigation Week! Our little learners put on their “detective hats” and dove into the world of curiosity and discovery. Through a variety of hands-on activities, the children became mini-investigators, observing, questioning, and experimenting to solve puzzles and explore new ideas.
Exploration Stations: We set up different investigation stations around the classroom where the children had the chance to investigate items like magnets, cotton pads and felt tip pens and textures. They loved touching, feeling, and experimenting with these objects to see how they worked!
Investigative Art: The children have explored and used paints, trying different objects to see which one they find the best to use.
Sinking and Floating: We have been experimenting whilst being outside which objects sink and float.
Colour mixing: Using a variety of colours of paint experimented to see which colours they could make.
Fossil making
Ice play: Used a variety of tools to break and melt the ice and rescue the animals.
Burn’s night: We have learnt about Burns night, named after Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Poet, we have been reading poems, making tartan patterns and exploring a Scottish themed sensory tray. We will taste test Haggis on Monday during snack time.
Next week, our topic will be All around the world . We will talk about different countries, and which special events they celebrate. We Will also be learning about Chinese New Year, we will learn about the signs of the Zodiac, and which animal we are. Our books of the week are traditional tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We will also explore stories in different languages.
