This week at preschool has been full of excitement, discovery, and plenty of time outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather!
🐞 We have continued our Mini Beast topic which has captured the children’s curiosity as they explored the natural world around them. They have been learning about the mini beasts we can see, and which similarities and differences they have. We have been searching for worms outside, observing them closely and learning about where they live and why they are important for our environment.
🐉 We also celebrated St George’s Day, where the children enjoyed learning about the story of St George, and making their own flags during craft time, and snack time.
🌍 In recognition of World Earth Day, we focused on caring for our planet. During water play, the children took part in a fun and meaningful activity where they rescued “rubbish” from the sea. This helped them begin to understand the importance of keeping our oceans clean and protecting marine life. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and teamwork as they worked together to clean up the water.
☀️ We’ve been incredibly lucky with the wonderful weather this week, and the children have made the most of it by spending lots of time outdoors, exploring, playing, and learning in the sunshine. As the weather continues to improve, we kindly ask that you apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at preschool each day. This will help us ensure everyone can safely enjoy outdoor activities.
Our topic will be The Farm, and our story of the week will be What the Ladybird Heard. We’re looking forward to lots of farm-themed fun.
⚠️ We have had a case of chicken pox identified in the setting this week. Please keep an eye out for symptoms and follow guidance if your child becomes unwell.
🥜 We are a nut-free setting, so please ensure that no nut products are included in your child’s lunch or snacks.
🍓 Please prepare all fruit, including berries, in line with Food Standards Agency guidance to ensure it is safe for young children to eat (e.g. cutting grapes and similar fruits appropriately).
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend enjoying the sunshine.
