The Tiger Who Came To Tea by Judith Kerr has been an inspiration for our children this week with many activities related to the story. Children in Bumbles have been writing shopping lists and thinking about what foods they would have at a tea party. The Honeys children and Bumbles have made their own sandwiches again choosing from a variety of fillings including grated cheese, carrot, cucumber, soft cheese or lemon curd. They've had real china tea cups, saucers and plates to help them learn appropriate dining etiquette and strengthen those fine motor and coordination skills. Using real tea bags added to the 'gown up' experience too!
Our lovely balloon arch has been dismantled and the children (and staff!) delighted in playing with the brightly coloured balloons adding to the fun on Friday afternoon. These were enjoyed by everyone and offered a sensory experience for our children with additional needs, encouraging their participation in a large group activity. Remember to supervise children when playing with latex balloons as they can pose a choking hazard.
Next week is our last before the Easter break and we'll be saying goodbye to our apprentice, Chelsea. We'd like to wish her well for the future and thank her for being with us. Chelsea's Key Children have been allocated new Key Workers and these will be shared with parents next week. Do pop in to get acquainted with Dani, Hannah or Karishma if Chelsea was your child's Key Person.
Next week we'll be learning about Easter, Ramadan and Eid and how these festivals are observed. The Bumbles children will hopefully be doing some baking and bringing home some Easter treats! Crystal has been quite specific about ingredients and assured me that the children are definitely acquiring new skills by melting chocolate. I can't remember seeing a reference to this in the EYFS but I trust her judgement and won't spoil the fun!
Remember, we finish on Thursday next week and don't return until Monday 15 April.
Have a great weekend.
