Weekly roundup 2 October 2026

This week we have continued with our theme of My Family and Pets, with the children talking about who they live with and who they enjoy spending time with.

📚 We have been enjoying some lovely stories together, including Guess How Much I Love You, Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy and All Are Welcome Here. All Are Welcome Here is a lovely story which focuses on inclusion and repeats the wonderful phrase throughout: “All are welcome here!”

One of my favourite parts of the story is:

“No matter how you start your day,
What you wear when you play,
Or if you come from far away,
All are welcome here!”

🥒 Snack Time

Snack is proving to be a hugely popular event at the moment! This week the children have enjoyed pitta bread, cucumber, apples, grated cheese, yoghurts, satsumas, a selection of crackers and corn sticks, as well as cereals with milk. The children particularly enjoy being able to self-serve their snack and pour their own drinks, helping to develop their independence and confidence.

🌳 We have been making the most of being outside this week. The children love visiting the garden and practising their physical skills on the climbing frame and balancing beam, as well as enjoying our bikes and trikes.

On Thursday, the Bumbles children also enjoyed spending some time in the Perryfields Infant School EYFS playground. We are so grateful to Perryfields for allowing us to use this wonderful space each week.

🥫 Thank you so much for all of your kind donations to Santus as part of our Harvest Festival. Your generosity is very much appreciated. We will continue to collect donations throughout next week if you would still like to contribute.

🌽 Next week we will continue with our Harvest Festival theme and will be welcoming the CEO of Santus into preschool on Monday morning to speak to the children about the work they do and how the donations help others.

🥪🍎 We will also be focusing on healthy eating and will be hosting our Healthiest Lunchbox Competition! Winners will be announced next week, so we are looking forward to seeing all of the lovely healthy lunchboxes!
