We're coming to the end of our Outer Space topic and the children have had a great week of activities. The Bumbles created solar systems with planets to hang from the ceiling while the Honeys explored a range of materials and resources in the tuff tray including, rockets, space craft and reflective paper. One of the teachers from Perryfield's infant school paid a visit to meet with some of the children who will be attending in September and we got to use their EYFS playground on a couple of occasions too. Sunita brought in a lovely space related story called Stardust by Jeanne Willis and Briony May Smith about how the universe began and how everything is connected. We are all made from stardust!
Our opportunity to explore more about the world of science and technology continues for the next two weeks in our topic of forces. We'll learn more about gravity and the effect of motion, pushing and pulling. We'll be reading the classic tale, The Enormous Turnip which details the importance of teamwork and how working together to achieve a goal can result in victory for all.
This weekend sees the start of the UEFA Euro 2024 football competition and we already have some keen supporters at Pre-School. Events like this are often celebrated by families getting together and sharing precious moments rooting for their favourite teams. We'd love to see and hear about your ways of getting involved so do share any pictures of your children and families celebrating via Tapestry. We'll be following the tournament weekly and taking part in some football related activities that spark the children's interest.
This week we have finalised graduation plans for the children who are leaving Springfield Bees to go to school in September. We will be having a graduation and picnic for the Bumbles leavers on Friday 19th July and parents will be receiving letters about this in their children's bags. Do make sure you check bags and save the date!
Have a great weekend!
