Weekly roundup 13 March 2026

We’ve had a wonderfully busy and imaginative week exploring our topic Fantastic Food and Shopping. The children have thrown themselves into every activity with so much enthusiasm, and it has been lovely to see their creativity shine.

🍌 Kitchen Disco Fun

Our story of the week has been Kitchen Disco by Clare Foges, illustrated by Al Murphy. It has been very popular, sparking lots of laughter and lively play as the children joined the fruits on their dancing adventures.

🥕 Exploring Fruits & Vegetables

Throughout the week, we’ve used fruits and vegetables in all sorts of exciting ways, including:

  • Painting with fruits and vegetables
  • Looking at how produce comes in different varieties (the potatoes were especially fascinating!)
  • Creating fruity crafts
  • Using playdough to mould vegetables such as green beans, broccoli, and carrots

🛍️ Role Play & Shopping Adventures

The children set up their very own clothing shop using fancy dress outfits, inviting friends to “come and buy” their creations. We’ve also enjoyed:

  • Food guessing games – During circle time, children guessed which food Debbie was describing. Examples included apples, which grow on trees and can be red or green, and pizza, which uses tomato purée and has cheese, tomato, and sometimes pepperoni or sweetcorn on top.
  • Looking through food magazines and cutting out items to make our own shopping lists.

Henna

We welcomed in Sneha Nair this week to talk to us about Henna known as Mehndi, and how body art is used as part of special celebrations. The Bumbles children had the opportunity to choose a design, the popular choices were flowers, hearts and dinosaurs. Thank you Sneha for your time!

📄 Reports & Parent Communication

End-of-term report summaries will be shared before the Easter break, giving you an overview of your child’s progress and achievements this term.

Following feedback on our Parent survey forms we would like to inform you of our structure on reports/meetings.

We complete termly reports, which are published on Tapestry. We also change children's next steps each term and inform you of these.

We also take part in Integrated 2-Year Reviews with health visitors.

If you would like to speak to your child’s Key Worker at any time, please let us know and we will arrange a meeting as soon as possible.
