Welcome everyone, this is the term’s first weekly round up with details of what has been happening at Pre-School.
It's been lovely to hear the children speak about their holidays and the fun times they've been having. We've had new children settling in which is going great and both rooms have been offering activities to help with the transition from home to Pre-School, or from the Honeys to the Bumbles room.
We’re delighted to welcome Natalia to our team this term. Natalia will be working in the office as our Finance Assistant, and her hours are 9.30am-2.30pm. Please do pop in and say hello if you’re around - she’ll be very happy to meet you!
This week, our Key Workers have been spending time getting to know their new children and families, and finding out all about their interests. Next week, we’ll continue with this theme by helping the children learn more about our daily routines, rules, and boundaries at Pre-School. We’ll be introducing our ‘Golden Rules’ and talking together about what they mean - such as sharing toys, helping each other, and being kind friends.
To help us find out about our families, we'd like to ask parents to share family photographs over Tapestry and to complete the ‘All About Me’ books for children to share during group time. This helps to create an environment where children feel secure which will support with the settling in process.
These first few weeks can be a little unsettling for both children and parents but the staff do all they can to support the process. Children aged under three are developing ways of managing transitions, for example from their parent to their Key Person and our job is help them thrive as they develop self-assurance. The older children are developing their sense of responsibility and membership of a community by attending the setting regularly. We encourage you to come into the rooms at drop off to help settle your child before saying goodbye and reminding them they will be collected a little later on. Doing this helps to build trust and it is perfectly normal for young children (and parents!) to experience some separation anxiety. If you are concerned, please speak to your child's Key Worker or a member of the senior staff team, Sophie (Manager), Viktoria (Room Leader) and Crystal (Room Leader) We'll do all we can to help 🙂.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child's progress and learning during their time at Springfield Bees.
We are a committee-run Pre-School, which means our setting is supported and guided by a wonderful group of volunteer parents and carers. Their time and ideas help us to keep improving and to provide the very best experiences for the children.
We are currently looking for new committee members, including the roles of Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer. Being part of the committee is a fantastic way to get involved in Pre-School life, meet other families, and make a real difference.
We’ll be arranging a meeting later this term and will share the details in the newsletter 🙂. If you’d like to find out more, we’d love to hear from you!
As we get back into the swing of things, here are a few helpful reminders about our setting:
We rely on you being punctual so we can keep offering our model of high quality and affordable childcare to local families. We are a charity run setting and must adhere to strict times as part of our lease agreement. If you are late collecting, you will be fined so be warned!! Do read through the setting's policies and procedures which are available to view on our website - www.springfieldbees.co.uk/parents-information/policies. Our website also has information about our term dates which you may find useful to make a note of.
Next week our interest basket theme will be the colour red! We’d love each child to bring in a small red labelled item to share 🙂
Look out for an email regarding how to sign up to Tapestry, our online platform which allows you to follow your child's learning journey while at Pre-School. It's also where you can see photographs of what they have been doing and access the Weekly Round Up.
