Weekly roundup - 1 March 2024

Welcome back to the second half of the Spring term after what I hope was a lovely break.

We've begun our new topic of gardening and growing and enjoyed the wet weather this week. The rain has been reminding us about changes in our environment and weather patterns, learning about the signs of spring. The children painted pictures of daffodils which are out in abundance and started planting some seeds of their own. Our aim is to help them understand the key features of the lifecycle of a plant and to encourage the exploration of natural materials. One of our stories this week has been the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk which provided inspiration for the planting activities. Perhaps we'll hold a competition to see who has grown the tallest plant!

Our artist this half term is Leonardo Da Vinci and the children in Bumbles have been observing his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. They'll be exploring some of his other wonderful paintings and drawings and creating some of their own artistic interpretations of his work.

Freddie, our persona doll enjoyed a visit today and spoke to the children about displaying good manners and being kind. He also congratulated them for being part of an outstanding Pre-School and brought them some biscuits to celebrate at snack time. What a treat!

Next week, we'll be observing International Women's Day (8th March) and World Book day (7th March). For World Book Day the children may dress up and/or bring in their favourite book - please do make sure any books are clearly labelled and any clothing has the child's name in too.

Have a great weekend!
