Weekly round up 16 June 2023

Another week of sunshine and activities inside and outdoors. Thank you to all of those that remembered to apply sunscreen and bring in named sun hats for their children.

The Bumbles were busy checking on the growth of their vegetables and herbs while outside, watering them and noticing how some are sprouting. Inside they used tools to bash and melt a large block of ice to extract some frozen flowers, helping them to stay cool while learning. The Bumbles also had a few visits to the Honeys room which is air conditioned and this brought some relief from the hot weather. To support school transition some of the Year 6 children from Perryfield's Junior school came and met the Bumbles, telling them about what school life is like. They read some stories and were interested in learning about what the Pre-School children do during sessions. They'll be back next week for some more interaction.

The Honeys room have continued to explore the theme of space by playing with the sparkly playdough and creating pictures to represent planets and the solar system. They also spent some time in the Bumbles room to help with their transition in September.

Some of the books we have read this week have included 'Armstrong - The Adventurous Journey of a Mouse to the Moon' by Torben Kuhlman and 'You Choose In Space' by Nick Sherratt and Pippa Goodhart.

Next week we will be moving on to our new theme of exploring different forces. Children will take part in activities that investigate forces like pushing, pulling, stretching and propulsion.

Have a lovely weekend.
