Weekly roundup - 22 September 23

We're well into our third week at Pre-School and it's lovely to see the relationships growing between the children.

The children in Bumbles have taken part in quite a few group activities this week, particularly enjoying the Honeypot game. Be sure to ask them about this! There has been a focus on supporting independence and developing self care skills such as children learning to use the toilet by themselves. We've given out lots of stickers and leaves for the achievement trees which children are very proud of. We try and support children's confidence by praising their efforts, however small so they feel proud when learning new things. Self-confidence and self-esteem are also enhanced through play when children are able to achieve the goals that they set.

This achievement through play will enable them to appraise their own strengths and abilities, and as a result, develop self-confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. By selecting their own resources and exploring these allows children to try new things and try again when things don’t go as planned. They will attempt to do things that they might not enjoy or normally be good at and learn to face challenges rather than avoid them.

With this is mind and in preparation for the new topic next week - pets, families and our homes, we're asking for children to bring in some open ended natural resources such as sticks, large pebbles and pinecones etc. They'll be listening to the story of the Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf and building their own houses to see which materials are strongest.
Families can also upload photographs of their pets to Tapestry (use the '+ observation' tab) as we'll be talking about the animals that also live in our homes. We'll be trying out our den building skills and creating our own habitats to retreat to.

We'll be sure to take some photographs of how this turns out!

A reminder about wellies - please bring in a named pair of wellies for your child that they can keep at Pre-School and let their Key Worker know they are here. Ans don't forget to send in your All About Me books. These really do help children to settle and they love looking through these during sessions.

Have a lovely weekend.
